Easy Halloween Spider Cookies Everyone Will Love

The most festive way to bring in the fall is baking spooky treats, and these Halloween Spider Cookies might just steal the spotlight at your next Halloween party! They start with a soft, chewy peanut butter cookie base — the kind that’s perfectly golden on the edges and melt-in-your-mouth tender in the center. Then comes the best part: each cookie gets topped with a Reese’s Cup “spider body,” complete with candy eyes and chocolate legs. They’re equal parts adorable and creepy, making them a huge hit with kids and adults alike.

I love that these cookies are simple to make but look like you spent hours crafting them. The peanut butter flavor pairs perfectly with the chocolate candies, creating a sweet-salty combo that’s hard to resist. Whether you’re whipping up a batch for a classroom party, a Halloween movie night, or just a cozy afternoon of festive baking, these spider cookies are sure to bring big smiles (and maybe a few playful shrieks). So grab your mixing bowl and some candy eyes — it’s time to spin up some spooky fun in the kitchen!

Ingredients

  • Flour— 1-1/2 cups
  • Brown Butter— 1/2 cup
  • White Sugar— 1 cup
  • Peanut Butter— 1/2 cup
  • Vanilla Extract— 1 tablespoon
  • Cinnamon— 1 teaspoon
  • 1 Egg
  • Baking Soda— 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chocolate Chips— 1/4 cup (melted)
  • Candy Eyeballs
  • Mini Reese’s Cups

What You’ll Need

  • Piping Bag
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Cookie Scoop
  • Silicone Mat

How To Make Halloween Spider Cookies

  • First preheat oven to 370F. Whisk together the brown butter, white sugar, peanut butter, egg, and vanilla extract until combined then fold in the flour, baking soda, and cinnamon until dough forms.
  • Form cookies using about 1.5 tablespoons of dough for each then place them on a cookie sheet lined with a silicone baking mat (make sure cookies are at least two inches apart).
  • Bake the cookies for 11 minutes. Once they’re out of the oven, use the back of a spoon to make an indentation at the center of each cookie then allow them to cool.
  • While the cookies are cooling, melt the chocolate chips and pour into a piping bag.
  • Place a Reese’s cup on each cookie in the indentation you made then pipe the melted chocolate across the sides of the cookie, forming the spider’s “legs”.
  • Use a dap of chocolate to place the candy eyeballs and your spooky Halloween spider cookies are done.
