Strawberry Frosting Recipe

When it comes to adding a burst of fresh, fruity flavor to your baked creations, strawberry frosting is an absolute winner. Sweet, tangy, and irresistibly pink, this frosting not only tastes delightful but also looks stunning on just about any dessert. Whether you’re planning to frost cupcakes for a party, top a layer cake for a special occasion, or simply elevate a batch of cookies, strawberry frosting brings a cheerful vibe and an unforgettable flavor.

One of the best things about strawberry frosting is how well it pairs with a variety of baked goods. It’s the perfect complement to vanilla cupcakes, chocolate cakes, or even lemon-flavored treats. The bright, fruity notes cut through the richness of chocolate and enhance the lightness of vanilla, making it a versatile choice for any flavor profile. Plus, its natural pink hue adds an extra layer of charm to your desserts, making it especially popular for events like birthdays, baby showers, and Valentine’s Day.

This Strawberry frosting recipe makes about 2 ½ cups of frosting, that’s enough to frost 12 cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted Butter (softened)- 1 cup (2 sticks)
  • Powdered Sugar (sifted)- 1-1/2 cups
  • Freeze Dried Strawberries- 1/2 cup
  • Milk- 2 to 3 tablespoons

What You’ll Need

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Mixer
  • Blender or Food Processor

How to make Strawberry Frosting

  •  Blend freeze-dried strawberries (or use a food processor) until they become a fine powder. Sift out any larger pieces, if needed.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter on medium speed until smooth, creamy, and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  • Add the strawberry powder to the butter and beat until fully combined.
  • Gradually beat in the powdered sugar, starting on low speed to avoid a sugar cloud.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of milk and the vanilla extract. Continue beating on medium speed until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.
  • If the frosting is too thick, add more heavy cream, 1 teaspoon at a time. If it’s too thin, add more powdered sugar by the tablespoon.
  • Mix in a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness, then beat for another minute until light and airy.

Tip

Add food coloring for a brighter and more vibrant pink color.
