Ingredients

  • Butter— 1/2 cup
  • Regular Marshmallows— 30
  • Rice Cereal— 5 cups
  • Salt— 1 teaspoon
  • Vanilla Extract— 1 teaspoon
  • Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips— 1/2 cup

  • Heavy Bottomed Suacepan
  • 8×8 Baking Pan
  • Spatula
  • Parchment Paper

How to Make Brown Butter Rice Krispy Treats

  • Frist line an 8×8 baking pan then set aside.
  • Then cut the butter into squares and melt over medium heat. The butter will begin to foam and give off a nutty aroma. Continuously stir the the butter until it has changed to a golden brown color. The brown specks at the bottom are completely fine.
  • Once the butter has browned turn the heat down to low and add in marshmallows. Stir the marshmallows in until they have melted then add in vanilla extract, salt, and rice cereal. Mix thoroughly until the rice cereal is completely coated.
  • Now immediately transfer the rice cereal mixture to the baking pan. Use a spatula to press the rice cereal evenly into the pan but be careful not to press down too hard (this can cause the treats to be hard and compact).
  • Melt the chocolate chips then pour melted chocolate over treats. Allow them to set then slice into the shape of your choice and enjoy.
