Banana Bread With Caramel Glaze

A classic that needs no introduction, Banana Bread has been one of my favorite desserts for as long as I can remember. This recipe puts a slight twist on this classic dessert with a simply delectable caramel glaze that complements the banana flavor so well.

Banana Bread With Caramel Glaze

This soft and moist banana bread practically melts in your mouth. Every bite full comfort and nostalgia that will leave you wanting another slice. You might want to make two loafs if you have a big family, I can almost guarantee that they won’t last long. I know what you’re thinking, making banana bread from scratch may seem like an uphill battle but I promise it’s well worth the reward.

Ingredients:

Banana Bread

  • Flour (2 cups)
  • 3 Medium Banana’s (Mashed)
  • Brown Sugar (1 cup)
  • 2 Eggs
  • Vanilla Extract (2 teaspoons)
  • Baking Soda (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Vegetable Oil (5 tablespoons)
  • Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Cinnamon (1 teaspoon)
  • Nutmeg ( 1/2 teaspoon)
  • Expresso (1 teaspoon) (optional)

Caramel Glaze

  • Butter (6 tablespoons)
  • Brown Sugar (3/4 cups)
  • Water (1 tablespoon)
  • Salt (1 teaspoon)
  • Evaporated Milk (1/4 cup)

What you’ll need:

  • 9×5 Loaf Pan
  • Two Large Mixing Bowls
  • Skillet

How to make Banana Bread

  • Mix wet ingredients

Mash three bananas and stir in brown sugar, let sit for 30 minutes. After the banana’s have set stir in eggs, oil, and vanilla extract.

  • Mix dry ingredients

In separate bowl mix flour, baking soda, expresso powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and milk powder. Combine wet and mixtures then pour into loaf pan.

  • Bake

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes.

  • Make caramel glaze

Coat a skillet with a thin layer of vegetable oil then bring brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, salt and 1 tablespoon of water to a boil on medium heat. Once glaze starts to boil lower heat and continue to cook for five minutes. Remove from heat and add evaporated milk. Spread an even layer of caramel glaze over top of banana bread.
